The topic for this year's dinner is:

Does our current training and education in the widest sense fits people for employment i.e. whether people have not only relevant vocational skills but whether they have the necessary interpersonal skills and attitudes to make them productive employees.

A survey of Graduate Recruitment specialists in April 2011 showed that more than a third of graduate recruiters (40%) say current university leavers do not have the work-based skills to secure an entry-level graduate role at their firm, according to new research from totaljobs.com.

This is a very important topic at this challenging time where people are finding it more difficult to get jobs, but where senior figures for industry and commerce are saying that they can't fill vacancies because applicants are unsuitable.
